Ren Recommends: The Ladybird Book of Mindfullness

Untitled design (3)

Sometimes my mum has to travel for work but she always brings something back for me, a little gift to mark her return.

The latest gift I received was The Ladybird Book of Mindfulness.  It’s part of ‘The Ladybird Books For Grown-Ups‘ series . The series is made up of novelty, humorous little books that are formatted like those old hardback  Ladybird books you may have read as a child. There’s a full page, traditional illustration to the right accompanied by a caption to the left.

The books call on your nostalgia with the pictures and  overall look of the book and then totally flip your expectations with the text.

This particular book in the series is, as I’m sure you’ve guessed, themed around mindfulness. There are a few others on different themes though, such as hipsters. I’m pretty pleased that I’ve got the mindfulness one in particular because everyone in my family is always telling me to stop worrying so much, not that this book helps with that in terms of instruction, but it was funny having my mum give me a book with this title . It’s relevant to our family in-jokes.

The Ladybird Book of Mindfulness is a lot of fun. It’s a quick read, of course, but there’s plenty of enjoyment to be had from it whenever you want to idly flick to a random page and find something to giggle about. It’s also a great books to pass around when you’re hanging out with friends and family.Even the tactile texture of the book is really pleasing.

I definitely appreciated receiving this neat little book as a gift and I’m looking forward to showing it to my friend next time I see her.

So, if you’re looking for a humorous and bookish gift, I recommend picking up The Ladybird Book of Mindfulness.
